Are you kind of a person who is constantly on the move and use your mobile phone very often which is like a lifeline to you? Do you want your battery not to discharge very often? It is very likely to get the maximum result from your battery if you keep certain parameters in mind.
1. Avoid the memory malfunction- keep your battery always fully charged and then completely discharge it at least once every three to four weeks. But if you are using Li-Ion batteries, these batteries don’t bear the memory malfunction. So always try to use Li-Ion batteries for your mobile phone.
2. If you are using a cell phone then always maintain an efficient battery charger which should be from the same company as your mobile phone. It also helps if you charge your battery in excess very frequently.
3. Always keep your batteries immaculate and tidy. Clean soiled battery links with a cotton swab and cleaning solution. This facilitates a smooth connection between the battery and the switch or the moveable device.
4. Do not expose your battery towards extreme heat especially in the kitchen or under direct sunlight. The dashboard of the car is also a common spot to place your cell phone which should be avoided. The battery also performs in an enhanced manner at room temperature, in comparison to extreme cold.
5. Always try to use ring tone mode when not in use, because the vibrator mode consumes more power and energy which drains the battery much faster.
6. Storage- If you think that you will not be using the mobile battery for a longer period of time, then store it in a very clean, cool and dry place away from extreme heat and cold. Don’t keep it near metal or sharp objects.
7. When not in use batteries tend to release their charge very fast, so make sure that you charge them completely before using it again. The shelf life of a mobile battery gradually deteriorates after a year or so in spite of careful and effective maintenance. It is always preferred to change the mobile battery after one year.
8. Use the cell phone under the mobile battery’s power until it shuts down or unless you get a low battery signal. Then again charge the battery as per the user’s manual.
9. Recharge the battery at once after a long storage.
These are some of the guidelines to follow in order to maximize the shelf life of a battery.
